Rinse Elsermans

Rinse Elsermans focuses on handling estate files and related procedures, family property law (relational property law, inheritance law, donations and wills) and (inter)national estate planning.

Rinse holds a Master of Law (University of Antwerp) and a Master of Notary (University of Brussels). He is a lawyer at the Brussels Bar.

He has been a member of the Cazimir team since 2015.

Rinse has in-depth expertise in guiding family conflicts, both in the context of family estate planning and inheritance issues or divorces, with a focus on complex liquidation divisions. He always strives in the first instance for an amicable and legally certain solution in family disputes. If an amicable agreement proves impossible, Rinse also has extensive experience in pleading before the various Belgian courts, where he will defend your interests with all necessary means.

Rinse also advises wealthy families throughout their entire life cycle and assists entrepreneurs in planning and structuring their assets. He helps clients transfer assets to the next generation, taking into account the different interests within the family or specific wishes of the donor. He also regularly advises clients on historically lopsided situations or ill-considered planning, by providing original but legally certain solutions.

Rinse's specialization is therefore characterized by a double focus: civil proceedings on the one hand and estate planning on the other. The interfaces between these two domains are extensive, and therefore provide a unique interaction in which the knowledge and experience of one domain provides creative and strong advice in the other domain.

Rinse is a much sought-after guest speaker at seminars, including, for example, the Brussels Study Circle of Notaries as well as the Flemish Council of Notaries (within the Royal Federation of Belgian Notaries), where he has already spoken to more than 1,600 notaries and notarial employees.

In addition, he regularly publishes in various leading legal journals and has appeared in various leading media (De Tijd, Trends, Knack) as a specialist.

Rinse won the TFR Prize in 2021, together with Elisabeth Janssens, for the annotation "THE TEMPORAL EFFECT OF A STRICT FICTIONAL PROVISION: COURT CHOOSE LEGAL CERTAINTY AND CONFIRMS THE DATE OF LEGAL ACTION AS A RELEVANT CONNECTING POINT". (Read here)

In the past he was affiliated with the University of Antwerp as an academic employee in the Personal & Assets research group. In the meantime, he continues to act as a guest speaker in the in-depth study of Family Property Law at the University of Antwerp.

Finally, he is a member of AIJA, International Association of Young Lawyers.

In his spare time, Rinse regularly travels abroad and enjoys a brisk walk in nature. He is also the proud father of a daughter, and during his free time he likes to read a book.
